By Car:
The distance from Paris is approximately 650 km. You can travel via Lyon and Chambéry, or via Grenoble. A motorway runs all the way to Modane.
By Plane:
The nearest airports are Chambéry (±1.5 hours’ drive), Grenoble (1.5–2.5 hours), Geneva (2–2.5 hours), Lyon (2.5–3 hours), and Turin (±2 hours). Chambéry is usually the fastest option. Milan is about a 3-hour drive and less practical. From the airports, you can continue your journey by public transport, shuttle bus, or rental car.
By Train:
La Norma is easily accessible by train via Modane station, just 5 km away. The TGV runs directly from Paris to Modane in about 4 hours. Since March 2025, the railway line through the Fréjus Tunnel has reopened, restoring fast TGV and Trenitalia connections between France and Italy with a stop in Modane. From the station, a bus or taxi will get you to La Norma in about 10 minutes.
By Bus:
During the winter months, several ski buses run from Paris to the French Alps, operated by travel companies such as FlixBus, BlaBlaBus, and specialized ski shuttle services. These buses often stop in Modane, from where La Norma can be easily reached by local bus or taxi. In addition, regional buses (line S51) run daily from Modane station to La Norma, taking around 10 minutes.
